Tens of thousands camp out on the dry lakebed, riding the tail end of the Perseids. Peak night was August 13, up to 150 meteors an hour, but the debris field doesn't read a calendar — fireballs are still streaking the sky two nights later, right on cue over a half-buried saucer stage that looks like it crash-landed here on purpose.
