Submariner — Sea Life

The Thornshell Crawler moves across trench walls and wreckage fields on hooked limbs, dragging a shell dense enough to shrug off glancing fire. It is slow in open water, but terrifying near rock, coral, or sunken metal where it can launch itself from the dark like a sprung trap. Its shell grows in overlapping thorn plates that break away during impact and lodge in whatever they strike. Submarines that survive a close pass often surface with jagged splinters embedded along the hull, each one vibrating faintly as if the Crawler is still nearby. The Crawler is not a hunter of speed. It is a hunter of routes, waiting in the places crews must pass through and making every narrow channel feel watched.
